Mohair is the silk-like fleece of the angora goat carded into a durable, stretch and flame-resistant top that produces luxurious fine yarn. It has a smoother cuticular scale than sheep's wool giving it lustre and a softer non-itchy texture against the skin. The fibres are hollow and so do not conduct heat making it a great insulator. It easily absorbs and releases moisture, is elastic and light-weight thereby comfortable to wear in cold or hot weather. Washes well without felting.
